An old, American made, HEAVY DUTY Scroll Saw manufactured outside of Decatur, IL. by the VEGA Co. which was started in the early 1960s by Gordon Snoeyenbos. The business closed down some 60 years later but this tool still keeps going strong. I purchased it about 25 years ago from an old gentleman who built different miniatures such as intricate stage coaches, doll furniture, planes, boats and much more. He bought it from a High school surplus sale where it was used in a wood shop class room. I’ve even used it to cut aluminum plate up to 1/4 inch however, was made for cutting wood product.
With its history out of the way, currently this Model 126 runs on 240 volt even though the name plate states 120 volt. The motor was apparently changed out before I purchased it and is 120/240 volt capable. I can leave it as is or reconfigure motor tap connections to 120 volt. Throat to blade clearance is 26 inches. The rotted belt was replaced with a new one and the adjustable speed locking pin never had a key which was also purchased and now functions. Everything else functions on the machine. Recommend you bring a trailer, lifting it onto a truck might be difficult.
