We have put a lot of time and money into getting these girls off to a great start. Chicks were started on a high-quality feed with added optimal amino acid and vitamins to support their growth and future egg laying production. Currently, at ten weeks of age the girls are on a “grower” ration of BigV Allway Kernel, whole oats and Fertrell’s Breeder Supplement. You can transition them to a feed of your choice, if you prefer.
ISA BROWN chicken breed (also known as GOLDSTAR) is a high producing breed that lays over 300 large brown eggs per year. The hens weigh about 5 pounds as adults. They make great pets and are known for how friendly, social and quiet they are. They are considered a hardy breed of bird and will handle cold and heat better than most other breeds. They do well free-range or confined.
ISA BROWN breed originated in France around 1978. The two breeds that created this beautiful and productive breed are Rhode Island Reds and White Leghorns. They will rarely brood and won’t breed true. Male chicks are white and female chicks are tan. They start laying at 18 to 24 weeks of age.
