I have a John Deere 301 Industrial Tractor rated at 46 HP with a front end loader and 5’ brush hog. The tractor also comes with a round bale attachment for the loader. The spikes on the round bale attachment are spaced to fit inside most standard pallets. I have had no issue picking up round bales as long as you have the brush hog on the back. The tractor is diesel powered with a power reverser (shuttle shift) transmission.
The Good: Newly rebuilt injection pump by M&D/ Thompson of Tulsa/BA, New injectors, New lift pump, New Wix fuel filter, New Wix air filter, Fresh oil change with Wix filter, 95% of the hydraulic hoses were replaced in 2023, has rear wheel weights. The batteries were replaced in 2024. Transmission has the shuttle shift option. Tractor starts right up with no either needed
The Okay: Tires are fair and useable, the left rear has a slow leak due the bead of the wheel being bent. The brakes probably could use some attention but work. Smokes a little mainly at idle and throttling up. I have videos of the exhaust running at idle and full throttle if interested I can send. The tractor is 2 wheel drive
The Bad: The seat has seen better days but it has been that way since I bought it in 2020, the tractor is not real pretty (Does not have the pretty DuPont restoration) the tractor has few hydraulic leaks not terrible though. The front end loader has been welded up at some point but has not been an issue since I’ve owned it. The lights do not work and never have since owning it. The ROPS bar has a cab topper attached to it and it has seen better days. The front right lift cylinder leaks from the packing gland but still lifts as in the video.
The fuel gauge and the Tachometer do not work.
The tractor is over 50 years old and is not perfect. I bought it in 2020 and used it until the injection pump failed in 2024. The tractor has been sitting since I repaired it at the end of May 2026. The water pump and starter were replaced by the previous owner. The brush hog that comes with it is old but works, the drive shaft on the brush hog was replaced in summer of 2021. The brush hog is probably undersized for the HP rating of the tractor but it is what I had at the time. A 6 or 7 foot brush hog would be ideal. The tractor would be good for a small farm as I have a 5 acre farm and it was perfect size. The tractor is being sold as is. For more specs on the tractor look up TractorData.COM. If you have any questions about the tractor I didn’t answer feel free to ask. Thanks for taking the time to read through.
