We have FOR SALE a GORGEOUS VINTAGE 14K YELLOW GOLD, VERY LARGE 18ct. AMETHYST STONE RING that is absolutely STUNNING! It is a Custom Designed and Hand-made, very early mounting with one of the largest Amethyst stones that has ever passed through our store! The size 5 ring has a very nice size shank, weighs a nice heavy 10 grams and the Rich Purple Amethyst really beautifully offsets the Gorgeous Antique Gold Mounting! The inside of the ring is stamped "L.T." which we think is probably the maker's mark. I was told that this Amethyst is around an 18ct stone measuring at approximately 20mm x 16mm x 8mm. We solicited the aid of a local professional certified gemologist who assisted us in determining the approximate carat weight as well as with sourcing the stone's origin. The gemologist determined that the stone is likely from Brazil and that it is a natural Amethyst stone. I would consider the stone to be a medium shade of purple - definitely not too dark and not a pale color either. There are some slight inclusions inside the stone - barely visible to a trained eye. There are also a number of slight nicks and scratches on the surface of the stone - very common for this size, cut and age of stone - but it is still very structurally stable. The cut is an oval shaped, very old cabochon cut with the stone being a very LARGE and RARE Amethyst mounted in an early Vintage bezel style, rope designed setting.
