This laptop works, and it still has some life left in it. It's not perfect. It makes a clicking noise sometimes, and there are some white spots or dead pixels on the display. I sent it to Apple for repair and they also found a little water damage in the electronics. It did pass all of the troubleshooting diagnostics for the cooling system though. And yes, there is sticker residue on the cover that I wasn't able to remove, but a little Goo Gone should handle it.
It's a fantastic machine for what it is, and it has served me well for lo these past 4 years or so. It's also the last Macbook Pro model that will allow you to use Bootcamp to set up a Windows partition.
