Precast Purchasing Agent – Steel & Inventory Control Experience

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent for a busy precast/preconcrete plant. This position requires strong purchasing experience, steel/material knowledge, vendor coordination, and inventory control experience.
Position: Precast Purchasing Agent
Location: Precon Plant
Salary: $85,000+ per year, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-time
Key Responsibilities:
Purchase steel, precast materials, plant supplies, and other required materials
Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers
Maintain accurate inventory levels and assist with inventory control
Track material usage, shortages, lead times, and delivery schedules
Coordinate with production, operations, accounting, and management
Ensure materials are ordered on time to avoid production delays
Review purchase orders, invoices, pricing, and vendor terms
Monitor steel/material costs and help identify cost-saving opportunities
Maintain organized purchasing records and inventory documentation
Assist with forecasting material needs based on production schedules
Requirements:
Purchasing experience required
Steel purchasing or steel material experience strongly preferred
Inventory control experience required
Precast, construction, manufacturing, or plant experience preferred
Strong vendor negotiation and communication skills
Ability to track multiple orders, deadlines, and material needs
Strong attention to detail and follow-through
Must be dependable, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced plant environment
Compensation:
Starting salary is $85,000+ per year, based on experience and qualifications.
